A Pembrokeshire man has earned the right to take on some of the best windsurfers in the world - after finishing as the second best amateur in Britain.
Lewis Merrony, 31, completed the BWA (British Wavesailing Association) Wave Tour with victory in the last event, in Cornwall.
He was awarded first prize at Gwithian beach, near Hayle, after judges were forced to rank the entrants early, as wind conditions didn't allow a finish.
Now next year Lewis, who's from Tenby, has qualified to take on the professionals in the BWA Wave Tour.
"It'll be interesting to give it a shot!" said Lewis, "It's always something I've wanted to do and now I've got the opportunity to do it, so I'm looking forward to giving it a go!
"I'll be up against some of the top guys in the world, so I don't think I'll be winning many titles, but I think I'll be able to get through a couple of rounds, and then see how it goes!" Lewis said.
Lewis is looking forward to continuing to train for next year at his favourite local spots, like Freshwater West and Newgale.
"I've been all over the world, and we've got conditions in Wales which can match anywhere, so we're pretty lucky to have that training ground - and it gives us a good advantage for the competitions."
More than 80 people took part in the Cornwall competition, across five categories, which was held in association with clothing brand Franklin and Marshall.
