Plans to spend £7.1m on rural areas in Pembrokeshire have been welcomed by Plaid AM, Nerys Evans. She was commenting on an announcement made by Rural Affairs Minister, Elin Jones, that Pembrokeshire would receive £5.4 million from the One Wales Government towards rural projects worth £7.2m in all. "This three-year funding package, under the Assembly's Rural Development Plan, will mean a big boost to rural areas in Pembrokeshire and other parts of Wales," said Nerys Evans. "I am pleased that projects encouraging tourism and heritage restoration have been given priority. These range from outdoor pursuit facilities to specialist food production. "As well as diversifying the rural economy, the plan aims to improve basic services, help village renewal and improve training facilities. I am confident that this will help ensure a thriving rural economy and improve the quality of life for people living in our rural areas."
