Alun Davies, Assembly Member for mid and west Wales is calling for the reintroduction of funding for the Historic Town Scheme Partnership to help businesses in Pembrokeshire.
Over a 20-year period, hundreds of businesses received support which ended in 2008, now Alun Davies has called upon the Welsh Assembly Government to look again at the decision to end funding.
Alun Davies said: "This scheme has transformed the look of many of our coastal locations around the county. The Town Scheme operating in Tenby for example, has transformed buildings as well as addressing visitor management and economic decline. I met with members of the Tenby Chamber of Trade on Monday to discover the extent of the current economic situation.
"We looked at many issues, including rate relief and town centre enhancement. Local business leaders provided me with an overview of how the Historic Town Scheme Partnership has helped to change Tenby for the better - a scheme which is even more critical now.
"I wrote to economic minister Ieuan Wyn Jones in January asking him to come to Tenby to see for himself the good work this scheme has achieved. Now it is time for him to deliver a replacement."
