Sir,
Many thanks for your very kind article published in the Tenby Observer on August 14 in Bowlers Corner, 'Annual visit for stalwart spectators'.
It is always a pleasure for me and my wife Marjorie Rowena to return each year to Tenby during Gold Cup week. It reminds us of the happy times we had for many years in Pembroke Dock where we met during the war when my ship, having been blown up on a magnetic mine on D-Day, came for repairs and when Marjorie and I met and got married a few years later.
But it is sad that all my bowler friends from Tenby and Pembroke Dock where I played bowls have now departed except Eric Dorling, of Tenby.
We are getting on in years, but we are still hoping to return to lovely Tenby next year where we always have a very nice welcome.
With our best regards to you all at the Tenby Observer.
A. E. George Lepoittevin MBE,
Officer of the
Legion of Honour.
