Pembrokeshire County Council has confirmed this week that it is not to pursue its controversial plan to relocate Tenby's allotments. The local authority had proposed to move the allotments from St. John's Hill to council-owned land at Bryn Hir, a move it said would bring 'wider benefits to the town.' However, allotment holders were not in favour. As a result, a meeting was held between county council officers, Tenby Town Council, county councillors and allotment holders earlier this year. "The county council has listened to all of the arguments put forward and concluded that it will not proceed to seek consent from the Welsh Assembly to relocate the allotments at present," said a spokeswoman for the county council this week. "Any vacant allotment plots will be offered to the next applicants on the waiting list," she continued. "The situation will be reviewed periodically and the county council may make similar relocation proposals in the future," the spokeswoman added.
