Is 2011 the year for a new festival or event in your community? Or perhaps your community event needs some refreshing?

A training session on all aspects of organising a festival or event is being arranged by PLANED, the community-led development organisation in Pembrokeshire. Over four evenings starting at the end of January, the free training course will help you learn about how to publicise your event and what rules and regulations you have to abide by.

There will also be sessions on licensing, event planning and risk assessment, funding and greening your event.

Last year, PLANED helped the organisers of the Pembrokeshire Preseli Walking Festival and arranged the launch event with Derek Brockway.

The Festival and Event training course is free and open to all, whether you are new to organising an event or an experienced community event organiser.

This training session is arranged as part of a project funded by the EU and the Welsh Assembly Government under the Rural Development Plan for Wales, which aims to improve and sustain life in rural Wales.

PLANED is currently project planning for Phase 2 of the Rural Development Plan for Wales, after being given the go-ahead by the Welsh Assembly Government with £1.9m worth of funding for supporting communities in Pembrokeshire. This is part of an all-Wales EU package of £54m.

PLANED, a charity and social enterprise based in Narberth, works with local people to help build a better future, developing local resources to strengthen the local economy, and assisting with grass-roots community led development.
