All the fun of the fair returned to Pembroke last week when one of the oldest charter fairs in the country returned to Main Street.

Following the reading of the Cry of the Fair by the town crier, Clr. Rose Blackburn, the fair was opened by the Mayor of Pembroke, Clr. Keith McNiffe, and blessed by Reverend Chancellor Anthony Williams. During the official reception hosted by the Showmen's Guild, Clr. Clive Collins was made an honorary member of the Guild by Edward Holmes, a senior member of the Showmen's Guild. The prestigious award was made in recognition of Clive's distinguished services to the Guild.

Due to the very mild autumn weather, Thursday and Friday saw very large crowds of both young and old people enjoying the attractions, but due to the wet weather and a certain rugby match taking place in Paris, the attendance on Saturday was slightly lower.
