Angle 2
Manorbier 2
Manorbier travelled to windswept Angle on Saturday with a bottom of the table clash, and with Manorbier's confidence rock-bottom after a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Johnston.
But Manorbier had at least a 12 man squad, which was a bonus. The game started with Manorbier playing with the wind and putting Angle under lots of pressure with Ben Hall and Austin John making good runs on both flanks.
After 20 minutes, and numerous missed chances from the newly named 'Freddie' Christopher, Manorbier went ahead from a Ben Hall cross and Mike Brown knocked in at the back post.
Freddie was battling hard up front and creating chances but as in all Manorbier's previous games was unable to capitalise. Angle equalised with their first chance of the game after a mix up in defence. The half time ended all square.
The second half started badly for Manorbier when Angle were awarded a dubious free kick which they floated into the box and it ricocheted around before falling kindly for an Angle player to knock past Jamesy who had no chance.
Manorbier took control again of the game with Paul Maytum, Robbie Izzard, Ben Hall and Austin John completely in control of midfield but Freddie missed a few more chances.
Unluckily for him, he was taken out in the box - which looked like a penalty to all players, spectators and even a farmer two fields away but unfortunately not to the ref - and when he remonstrated rather colourfully, he duly got booked.
Surely Manorbier's luck had to change, which it did. From another of many corners Paul Maytum managed to set the ball into the Angle net.
With five minutes remaining, adding to Freddie's nightmare, he got injured and was carried off the pitch.
This will be one game that Phil will want to forget.
