Whitland seconds may be flying high in Division Three this season, yet they were unable to replicate this form in the first round of the Alec Colley Cup away to Camrose and Spittal.
In losing to the home side, albeit with four regulars missing, they bombed out of the competition at the first hurdle and now have only the league to play for. Whether they took Camrose for granted may never be known, but it matters little now as they are out.
The home side batted first and could only muster 99-7 against an accurate bowling attack as Raff Williams took 4-23, Meyrick Rowlands 3-15 and Ashley Evans 3-9.
In reply, Whitland could only get to 94-9 as six players got into double figures yet none scored more than Owen Evans' s14 as home team skipper Gelly James took 5-19.
Hundleton entertained Llanrhian and came out second best against the spirited visitors who batted first and scored 130-9. Steve Eagles was the pick of the home team attack, taking 5-28.
In reply, Hundleton got to 112-7 as Carl John scored 27, Paul Walkey 18 and Paul Edwards 16, but it was never enough to trouble the challenging total.
Pembroke entertained arch rivals Pembroke Dock and had a 10-wicket victory chasing 75 all out. Spencer Harries was the pick of the home bowlers taking 6-6.
Pembroke's openers Colin Kaijaks and Rob Weston were never troubled by the visiting bowlers and eased past the total with eight overs to spare as Kaijaks scored 22 and Weston 43, a hard hitting innings that contained seven boundaries.
Highest score of the day went to Carew who batted first against Crymych and amassed 202-2. Aled Griffiths led the way with seven 4s and two 6s in his unbeaten 81, while skipper Martin Scourfield wasn't too far behind, hitting two maximums and eight 4s in his unbeaten 71.
Crymych were never in the game against such experienced opposition and were bundled out for 50 as Steffan Davies took 3-10, while Darren Thomas, Neil Gregory and Matthew Phillips took two wickets apiece.
Finally, in the game between Llangwm and Narberth, it was a win for Andrew Williams's men as they overhauled the home team's 109-6 in the 16th over for the loss of six wickets.
They finished on 111 thanks to Ceri Davies's 31 not out and Joel Davies' s 30. Ceri hit a six and four 4s in his innings, while Joel finished with five boundaries to his name.
Narberth did well to restrict the home team to such a modest total as Tim Mills led the way with 2-28.
Meanwhile, at Neyland, Stackpole came away with a victory as they overhauled the home team's 141 in the 18th, although they did lose eight wickets in doing so.
