FARMER Alan Wheatley was recently one of a group of people who completed a 166-mile charity bike ride from Holyhead to Fishguard.

Father of two, Alan, of Wood Barn Farm, Llawhaden, was raising money for Diabetes (UK) Cymru and for the Welsh Air Ambulance.

The run, which raised over £7,000 a year ago, is arranged by the Welsh Machinery Rings and, as chairman of the South and West Wales Ring, Alan was setting an excellent example.

Sponsorship money is still coming in and the final figure raised will be announced in due course.
