THE Rotary Club of Tenby held its Annual Club Assembly and Handover Dinner at the Royal Lion Hotel last Tuesday evening.

Outgoing president, Andy Tulley thanked members for their support throughout his year. He apologised for his occasional absence due to work commitments at his restaurant and hotel, The Overlander in Penally, but was proud of the club's achievements, including raising around £13,500, which had been donated to local, national and international charities.

The new president of Tenby RC, the club's 66th, is Alan Jones. Alan has retired from retail management, but is now involved in car sales at Tenby Auto Centre and is 'living the dream' as the proprietor of a fishing boat, the Happy Hooker, which runs out of Saundersfoot harbour.

Alan outlined his forthcoming year and informed members that he will be relying on their knowledge and experience in assisting him taking the club forward.

Alan introduced Brian Charles, former managing director of Welsh Water/Dwr Cymru, as his vice-president.

Chris Williams, a member of Fishguard RC and an Assistant Governor for District 1150, congratulated Andy and wished Alan success. He presented the club with a certificate to commemorate its 65th year.

Chris also explained the difficulty which Rotary worldwide was experiencing in attracting new members.

Rotary's motto is 'Service Above Self'.

Any potential new members who wish to serve their community or learn more about Rotary should contact Tenby RC's secretary Graham Fry on 842127 or indeed any other member of Tenby RC. Your assistance would be most welcome.
