Advice for older people in the county will still be available despite the closure of Age Cymru Pembrokeshire at the end of the month.

The assurance has been given by Pembrokeshire County Council which has a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the Haverfordwest-based organisation to provide an information service for the elderly.

Age Cymru Pembrokeshire is to cease trading on August 31, but Age Cymru - in partnership with Age Cymru Ceredigion and Age Cymru Carmarthenshire - will take over the contract from September 1.

“We are assured that the service the new providers will deliver will be of the same standard as before and customers accessing the service should not see any difference in terms of the quality” said County Clr. Simon Hancock, cabinet member for adult services, health and well-being.

He went on: “Initial contact with Age Cymru will be through their advice line telephone number which will be the first point of contact for people requiring information and advice.

“Age Cymru have confirmed they will be running a local marketing campaign to promote the advice line telephone number and the subsequent support available via local partners.”
