Easter is just around the corner, so if you’re looking ahead to the brighter, warmer days of spring, National Trust Cymru are inviting the whole family to enjoy Easter egg trails and spring adventures across Wales.

Hopping like an Easter bunny, making a home for wildlife, or peeking into veg patches are just some of the different experience’s families can enjoy on Easter trails that will keep your little explorers entertained throughout the school Easter holidays.

In the gardens and parklands, nature is bursting into spring. Make the most of your day and bring a picnic, find a spot under a tree and take a moment to sit and breathe in the delicate blossom fragrance.

At Colby Woodland Gardens, near Amroth, look out for camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons bursting into bloom and adding a touch of pink to the landscape.

Follow the Easter trail into the walled garden to see the majestic magnolia tree and head down to the stream to look for dippers and grey wagtails on the wing and around the water’s edge.

If you sit quietly you might just see a water shrew dart out from its burrow in the bank to forage for insects.

The Easter trail is from April 15 to 18, 10 am to 5 pm (last entry at 4 pm).

Easter trails are also taking place in Carmarthenshire at Dinefwr (April 9 to 17, last entry 3.30 pm) and Dolaucothi (April 13 to 17, booking essential).

Wherever you’re visiting this Easter, every Easter adventure in nature trail ends with a chocolate egg, made in the UK using cocoa responsibly sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms (alternative non-chocolate reward available if requested). Trails cost £3 per child, plus normal admission charges. Booking is required at some places and opening times vary, so head to the website to plan your visit; https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/easter-in-wales
