It was a return to family roots for Admiral the Rt Hon Baron West of Spithead and author Lawrence Phillips when they called on the Mayor of Pembroke Dock, Clr. Jane Phillips, on Monday.
Baron Alan West, a former First Sea Lord, has strong connections with the town where his great-grandfather worked in the Royal Dockyard. And Lieutenant Commander Phillips was brought up in Pembroke Dock before embarking on a long and successful career at the Ministry of Defence.
They were back in town for the launch of Lawrence Phillips's new book, 'Pembroke Dockyard and the Old Navy'.
Admiral West also visited the Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust's current headquarters at the former Fleet Surgeon's House in the Royal Dockyard.
