Calls for urgent remedial work to be carried out to alleviate flooding along the footpath between Narberth's Cox Hill Estate and the Town Moor Car Park have been made this week.

On behalf of the residents of the estate, Seadna Bradshaw wrote to the town council enclosing photographs of the path, which continually floods when it rains.

"I think it is high time something was done, to save the children of the estate having to paddle their way through six inches of water to go to school every time we have rain," wrote a concerned Ms. Bradshaw, of Garfield Gardens.

Although Pembrokeshire County Council are aware of the problem and various attempts have been made to alleviate the situation, all so far to no avail, Ms Bradshaw believed what was required was 'a proper solution', which would involve draining the Moor so the water could flow away to wasteland at Cardingmill Lane.

"I understand that there was a drain on the Moor, but this is obviously insufficient, " she continued in her letter. "I have been told by a farmer who has had his land drained, that a six-inch perforated drain through the centre of the Moor with four-inch pipes leading to it would do the job, and it would take about a day to do.

"I would ask that you write a firm letter to Pembrokeshire County Council and demand that this job is carried out. If they are unable to comply, I would suggest that you ask them if the town council can arrange for a local firm to do the job and Pembrokeshire County Council can pay the bill," she concluded.

After viewing the photographs, councillors voted to send a copy of Ms. Bradshaw's letter and the pictorial evidence of the flooded path to the county council, asking them to carry out the necessary work to ease the problem and then carry out regular maintenance checks at the footpath once the work has been completed.
