The erosion of Tenby's South Beach is a major concern that needs addressing as soon as possible, according to a local councillor. Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas raised the matter at a meeting of Tenby Town Council on Tuesday night, following reports she had recently read in the press regarding the removal of the groynes from the beach. "It seems that he removal of the groynes on the South Beach has obviously led to this problem, so ideally we need to hold a meeting with Pembrokeshire County Council, National Parks, Penally Community Council and Tenby Golf Club, to come up with a solution to stop our beautiful beaches being eroded," she told her colleagues. Clr. Mrs. Maureen Ward concurred. "We stood on that beach 10 years ago when Clr. Eileen Hodgson said not to take the groynes away," she recalled. Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans felt that anyone who had photographs taken of the beach area profile from the past 10 years could bring them into the council offices to highlight the matter. Mayor, Clr. John Griffiths, agreed that they should prepare information highlighting their concerns ahead of a possible meeting.
