An inquest has been held after a family holiday ended in tragedy when a 12-year-old girl was left orphaned following a car crash that claimed the lives of her parents.
At the inquest in Milford Haven last Thursday, it was stated that the car, driven by learner driver Sandra Bennett, skidded sideways into the path of an oncoming car after overtaking a lorry between Kilgetty and Broadmoor on April 26.
Both 40-year-old Mrs. Bennett and her husband, Dennis Bennett, aged 44, of 33 Cricket Grove, Hundleton, died of multiple injuries in the accident, which occurred when they were on their way home from Blackpool.
Pembrokeshire Coroner Michael Howells recorded accidental death verdicts on the couple and said that Mrs. Bennett, who was learning to drive because her husband would soon have to give up due to multiple sclerosis, had possibly lost control due to inexperience because of road conditions.
