A new pathway linking Monkton and Pembroke Common has been completed.
Dubbed Badgers Walk by residents, the well-trodden route along Bridge End Terrace was previously too narrow for both pedestrians and cyclists.
The new upgraded path improves residents' access to services and employment opportunities.
Pembrokeshire County Council's walking and cycling officer, Paul Smith, said it was hoped that as well as improving access, the new path would also encourage greater usage thereby promoting healthier lifestyles.
The shared-use path was part-funded, as well as designed and managed, by Pembrokeshire County Council.
It was included in the Monkton to Pembroke Community Safe Route project, which is part of the Haven Towns Regeneration Project - a £3.2m EU backed scheme to revitalise and regenerate Pembroke and Pembroke Dock.
The scheme is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
