Traditionally called the watch night service awaiting the arrival of Christmas Day, there will be a fantastic opportunity for people to immerse themselves in the most stunning atmosphere and adventure of St. Catherine’s Island.
Lit with hundreds of candles and seven open fire places, this is set to be a stunning Victorian Christmas experience. Children are especially welcome and you will be able to have a little mulled wine or some of the finest coffee to top off the evening.
With a dramatic Christmas presentation, carols and Christmas music, this experience will not be forgotten
Time: Times will be from 10 pm - 12 midnight, but you are welcome from 9.30 - 12.30 if you would like to soak in the glorious atmosphere of Christmas, enjoy the environment of the island or simply relax with a Christmas coffee in front of the fire.
Torch: You are advised to please take a torch as the beach is dark and please note that there are 74 steep steps to climb up onto the island.
Dress well, dress warm: You are welcome to go dressed as you like, but a little Victorian flair will add to the theme! If you can dig out a top hat or better, please do. Good shoes for walking across the beach and up the steps are essential, as are warm clothes.
“This event is a Christmas present to you from us and therefore is free,” said a spokesman for St. Catherine’s. “If you would like to give to the orphanage in Nepal that we are supporting, you could bring some change with you to throw down the well and see if you can ring the bell.
“Refreshments are extra, so you might like to bring some money for coffee or mulled wine.”
