Have you ever wondered where sayings such as 'Left on the Shelf' or 'Daylight Robbery' originated? Find the answers and much more besides at the Tudor Tasting Day taking place at Tenby's Tudor Merchant's House on Bank Holiday Monday, May 26, between 11 am and 4.30 pm. National Trust staff will be wearing Tudor costume (made by local seamstress Rhian Morgan) and chatting to visitors about every aspect of the daily life of the merchant and his family. Children can discover how different their lives would have been in Tudor times, try on costumes, play with replica Tudor toys and do a special quiz to highlight the differences between life today and how the Tudors lived. Custodian Alyson Bush said: "We're really looking forward to showing our new costumes and talking about them. Visitors are fascinated when they learn why the ladies had dresses with detachable sleeves which led to the writing of the traditional song Greensleeves." The Tudor Merchant's House is situated on Quay Hill, just off Tudor Square in Tenby, and is open every day this Bank Holiday weekend from 11 am -4.30 pm. National Trust members and under fives are admitted free. For more information, visit http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk">www.nationaltrust.org.uk or phone 01834 842279.
