Following a successful summer of supplying award-winning Seashore Wraps and delicious lobster rolls to the visitors of Freshwater West beach, The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company (otherwise known as Café Mor) is gearing up for an equally busy winter season.
The small food producers were one of six winning companies, chosen from hundreds who entered, to be given a bursary allowing them to showcase their products at the BBC Good Food winter show at the NEC in Birmingham at the end of this month.
Originally the company began as a street food trader. It picked up several awards in 2011 and 2012 which led to their seafood and most interestingly, their sea foraged food, being served at the Olympics in London last summer.
Now into producing food products for retail, the little company based in Pembroke Dock can't believe its luck at winning further awards.
The BBC Good Food Winter Show is almost a week-long event, beginning on Wednesday, November 27, and attracts visitors from all around the UK. Special guests at the event include the Saturday Kitchen team, The Great British Bake-off contestants and judges and faces from Masterchef. At the enormous venue, lots of speciality food producers will be selling and showcasing their products and The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company are thrilled to be involved.
Jonathan Williams, managing director of the company, says: "The space we'll have at the show would have cost thousands; it's really brilliant to have been chosen from so many other great food producers nationwide."
The goodies up for sale will be 'Welshman's Caviar', the cakes; 'Beach Brownies', 'Sea Spiced Ginger Cake' and 'Sweet Tangle Flapjacks' and the brand new 'Ship's Biscuits' which are little fish-shaped seaweed crackers. Jonathan will also be cooking up his classic hot lobster rolls with seaweed butter for the hungry visitors.
