At the April meeting, president Sue welcomed guest speaker Yoriko Omae, a Japanese teacher working at Pembrokeshire College, who talked about the traditions of Japan, followed by a demonstration of the Japanese Tea Ceremony.

Sa Do, meaning ' the way of tea', is the Japanese for tea ceremony. Tea was first brought to Japan from China in the seventh century. In the 12th century, Zen monks developed the tea ceremony, a way of creating peace for meditation.

For the ceremony, finely ground green tea is used in a ritualised way and is most often performed in tea houses.

All members attending had the opportunity to taste the tea and thanks go to members for providing sweet biscuits.

The next meeting on Thursday, May 1, will be a business meeting and will take place at St. Brides at 7.30 pm.
