Sir,
All the objections against the erection of a Tetra mast on The Ridgeway, just 75 yards from 'The Wheelabout', the holiday house for families with disabled children, have been rejected by the planning inspector in giving permission for it to be installed. He dismissed the real concerns of parents who gave evidence at the inquiry. He also considered that any adverse economic effect upon the Harriet Davis Trust was not a relevant planning matter and did not consider any of the alternative sites suggested were a matter for him. The provisions of the Children's Act and the Disability Rights Act were also considered not to be relevant. So we now face the real possibility that families with disabled children, particularly those subject to epileptic fits, will choose not to use the house, depriving them of the opportunity of having a holiday together and making it uneconomic for the Trust to keep the house open. We have been very touched by the support received in this long battle from the many people who have worked so hard on our behalf and especially those who have given generously to the fund to meet the cost of fighting the appeal. The one good thing to have come out of this sorry saga is the realisation that we, and the Trust, have many true friends in the local community who really appreciate what the Trust is doing for families with disabled children and are prepared to put themselves out to support its work. For this, all the trustees are truly grateful and humbled.
Kit and John Davis,
Harriet Davis Trust, Warren Street, Tenby.
