Sir,
This is the third quarter of our winter of discontent.
For make no mistake, a virtual state of warfare exists today between the Public at Large in Pembs, who deserve better, and PCC, who should have known better, between a county council who seemingly plotted in secret to impose upon the public they once served and to force feed us all on a gut-wrenching diet that we just can't swallow. Namely ensuring, in fact directing, each and everyone of us resident in the Tenby, Saundersfoot and surrounding areas with rubbish on our minds, in car boots, trailers, vans and lorries, to dump our rubbish next door to a nursing home.
Who did the decision-making executives at County Hall consult on this one? It sounds like one of Baldrick's cunning plans.
And did not the tsunami in protest give them some hint of the opposition to their plotted plans course? Each letter, if you like, a guerilla act to try to make them see reason, or are they, like lemmings, still intent to let their far-fetched idea carry on running to Giltar's highest point, jump off, taking every last vestige of caring credibility with them?
Public at Large I have spoken to say there has been no democracy here, all a sham - if you will, a shamocracy!
PALS (Public at Large say): "By the time it's brought to our attention it's all cut and dried, no discussion, it's an enforcement, a stitch-up" and who of us feels that in this instance so far, at this time, they are right.
Be aware though, gentle, caring reader, this is no longer a case of a shrug of the shoulders, a grimace and the oft repeated "Well you know what that lot are like."
This is make your mind up time. This is about the most frail-minded, innocent and child-like members of our society who, in spite of PCC's seemingly off-handed carelessness, are still the more in need of our care and protection and if they, in their needful plight are treated in this shameful way, what chance is there for us, the less deserving?
Imagine now we have a map on the kitchen table and if we could stick in a red pin for every family member who has resided and received treatment in that nursing home in all its years of existence, there would hardly be a street in town, a hamlet or village setting that would not be represented.
Once now one again PALS. The tumultuous opposition voiced over the last months on this matter is in direct contrast to a disconcerting quietude from certain areas, from which they felt they would get support and so anything that needs saying should be said now. For silence on this matter at this time will strangely signify the one thing on which both Public at Large and PCC would probably agree and that would be that silence signifies assent.
Ken Fryer,
Tenby.
