Sir,
The writer of last week's letter, CAS is 'not a dump', clearly believes that CAS is only a collection/transfer station. He appears to accept that CSA sites are a wonderful facility for the area, believing them 'not to be a danger to beaches, and traffic can be controlled'. I also note that he is challenging Saundersfoot councillors to suggest other suitable sites.
As a previous resident of Manorbier and knowing the village quite well, may I suggest that there are suitable sites along the Pembroke Road in Manorbier?
Once you pass the school, the garden centre and the caravan site, there are open fields, which would make very suitable sites. The constant lorries could enter the village from The Ridgeway, so no traffic jams there then!, thus avoiding the village, and as there are no smells and traffic can be controlled, thus no disturbance as far as access is concerned.
I agree that The Salterns could and does make sense, but as a former county councillor, he might be aware that this 'not fit for purpose' council rejected that site a year or so ago.
So Brooklands, your dementia residents can now sleep more easily in their beds. The county council can now switch the CAS site to Manorbier. After all, we must speak up for those who are not able to speak for themselves.
Michael Doyle,
