Pupils at Manorbier VCP School recently treated parents, governors and visitors to a wonderful Harvest celebration full of song, poetry and rapping.

The rapping in question wasn't the edible kind nor the snuggle up warm sort, but the full on trendy musical rap so beloved of our youth.

The school orchestra started proceedings with a mix of autumn-based pieces which were extremely well-received by the crowded audience.

Class 1 and the Early Years set things going with some very enthusiastic action singing that had all the parents reaching for their tissues.

Not to be outdone, the young juniors performed a rap version o the Little Red Hen that will surely go down in school history for its enthusiasm and 'coolness'.

The top juniors then brought more tears to the eyes of the audience with renditions of their autumn poetry.

Rev. Millgate, who was overseeing proceedings, gave a short talk to the children about harvest and food.

All of the edible contributions were then auctioned off to the assembled audience raising £204.50 for Amnesty International in memory of Andy Greenhouse.

Class 4 juniors are busy honing their cycling skills as they have recently started their cycling proficiency.

The scheme, which will ensure that another generation learn to use the roads safely, is always popular and all the children seem to be studying their parent's road skills a little more carefully at the moment.

Class 1 and 2 including the Early Years, recently went on an autumn walk with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park ranger, Craig Stringer.

He led them along way-marked paths through their local environment down to the beach and back, looking at nature's food and harvest.

The weather cleared for the day and all the children had a wonderful time spotting, discussing and recording their finds.

The knowledge which they brought back with them has certainly helped them in their topic work since their return to school and all would like to say a huge thank you to Craig for his wonderful talks and walks.
