READERS are reminded that Thursday, September 7, sees the first lecture by Dr. Ann Ross, of the 'Literature For Pleasure' course at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery. This eight week course will focus on six 19th century novels - Emma by Jane Austen, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Middlemarch by George Eliot and Daisy Miller by Henry James - and will also include an introductory session and conclusion on all the books studied. This is a new venture for the museum and it is hoped that the seminars will be well supported. The museum is very grateful to Dr. Ann Ross for all her hard-work and generosity with regards to this new project. Collections manager at the museum, Mark Lewis, said: "This is the ideal opportunity to gain a greater understanding of some of the finest novels written in the English language at that time. Dr. Ross has had professional lecturing experience and we are very fortunate that she wishes to support the museum in such a way. These are books that many people will be familiar with and these seminars will provide meat to the bones." If you are interested in attending, the price for the full course is £20. Each session will last for one hour, from 6.30 - 7.30 pm and will run on consecutive Thursday nights from September 7. For further details, please telephone the museum on (01834) 842809. All books for the course are available from Tenby Bookshop in the Penguin Classics series, priced £1.99, with the exception of Middlemarch which is available at the same price in Wordsworth Classics.
