Sir,

When I happened upon Tenby's new public notice boards shortly after their erection, I was impressed by a witty, artistic and practical community statement.

Another visit to the resort recently has only strengthened my support for a scheme which, I'm dismayed to read, has caused controversy.

To paraphrase Nessa Jenkins 'At the end of the day, when all is said and done...' it's a matter of taste. The two boards and their siting appeal to mine. Before even contemplating an expensive uprooting and resiting of the structures, might I urge consideration of the view of De Valence Trust member Chris Osborne... 'modern artistic statements take time to bed down in the public's eye.'

I further suggest that a more pressing issue for public debate is that of the RNIB collection point at The Esplanade. For generations the display has been a worthy resource. Artistically, however, it has come to resemble a macabre installion that would not look out of place on a Turner Prize shortlist.
