Pembrokeshire College student Ben Pepper won silver in the British Physics Olympiad AS Challenge last week securing his position in the top 15 per cent of entrants in the UK.
Over 1,600 young physicists entered the exam-based competition which is designed to test understanding and problem solving skills.
Even for able students like Ben, who is studying four A-level subjects at the college, the competition is a challenge.
Ben said: "This competition has developed my confidence and problem-solving skills. I really enjoyed the challenge and it's prepared me for the competition again next year."
The British Physics Olympiad (BPhO) has run for 25 years and recognises excellence in young physicists through four annual physics competitions.
After completing his A-levels at college, Ben hopes to study physics at Oxford University and thanks his current lecturer Dr. Helen Coomer for her encouragement and support.
With accolades like the BPhO behind him, the sky's the limit! Good luck Ben!
