A host of heavenly Angels filled St. Mary’s Church, Begelly, on the last weekend of November for their first-ever angel festival (writes churchwarden Val John). We hope everyone that came to view the angels were surprised and hopefully inspired with the numerous displays of angels that adorned our church, including a spectacular six-foot-plus angel sculpture made and donated by Mr. Neil Machin, wood carver of Begelly, which will be on display throughout our Christmas season. We are grateful not only to Mr. Machin, but also the many local business and organisations that took part, namely, Watkins the Bakery, Crossroads Garage, Begelly Arms, Kilgetty Pharmacy, Begelly Beads, E. C. Thomas, W. and M. J. Rossiter, Stepaside School, St. Elidyr’s, Ludcurch, New Hedges art group, St. Elidyr’s, East Williamston, Saundersfoot Rainbows, Begelly Knit and Natter Group and the creative people of Begelly Church and their Sunday School.
The festival finished by a very moving and inspiring angel songs of praise on the Sunday afternoon, led by Rev. Caroline Mansell.
Our Advent season continues with a Christingle service this Sunday, December 10, at 3 pm, followed by mulled wine and mince pies. On Christmas Eve, there will be our annual crib service at 2 pm and at 11.30 pm our very special midnight mass.
Everyone will receive a warm welcome at these or any of our regular services. St. Mary’s Church, Begelly, would like to wish everyone a happy and peaceful Christmas.
