Sir,
I noted that last week’s column published two letters from Sir Eric Howells CBE.
In one of them he wonders ‘who do we thank’ for the ‘high standard’ of A40 resurfacing work in his village of Llanddewi Velfrey.
Among the candidates he considers worthy of thanks, Sir Eric singles out: ‘G. D. Harries and Sons Limited under its managing director, Janet Phillips, a Llanddewi person’.
The letter went on to say of the resurfacing: ‘It is not important why it was done or who did it’.
It occurs to me that ‘why?’ and ‘who?’ are two important questions your readers might bear in mind when reading Mr. Howells’s letter - as he neglects to mention that Ms. Phillips is actually his daughter!
I trust that this fact will allow your readers an even greater appreciation for Sir Eric’s appreciation!
