A wonderful opportunity is being presented by Pembrokeshire Eclectic Music Society to experience the music from the Appalachian Mountains here in Pembrokeshire at St. Patricks Hall, Pennar, a fantastic community venue which serves the local community well with regular events.

An enjoyable evening is sure to be had on Friday, March 21, with the eagerly-awaited appearance of Rayna Gellert, Leah Abramson and Patrick Metzger.

Pembrokeshire Eclectic Music Society have already brought to the county The White Top Mountain Band, Beverly Smith and Alice Gerrard, Alison Williams and Rachael Eddy, and more recently, internationally acclaimed Foghorn Stringband as well as banjo virtuoso Adam Hurt with Stephanie Coleman and Beth Hartness. Those of you who saw these will not wish to miss this wonderful opportunity.

It's not often you get a spontaneous coming together of like-minded musicians of such high quality, and rarer still that they should make their way to the UK for a tour.

There is a fair chance you will have heard a track or two from the stunning new album by The Abramson Singers from Vancouver, thanks to the level of radio exposure it has received.

One of those who joined Leah Abramson in the studio for the recording was Rayna Gellert, well-recognised in her own right following a successful career in Uncle Earl before she went solo to establish herself as a major name on the circuit as well as a huge creative force, working with Robyn Hitchcock, Loudon Wainwright III and John Paul Jones.

Rayna also has a superb new record in circulation that is winning her much praise from the likes of Radio 2's Bob Harris.

'Rayna Gellert's 'Old Light' is... a really extraordinary album, and one of the finest I've heard that combines contemporary writing with deep tradition in an informed and genuinely original way' - Fatea Magazine.

Leah, who was formerly with bands The Crooked Jades and Dyad, had also recorded and performed with Rayna on many occasions, so they know each other's material inside out.

Here, these two friends come together to become an even more potent force (joined on bass and guitar by Petunia and The Vipers' Patrick Metzger).

Doors for the concert open at 8 pm and entry is £10. Any profits left over after costs will be donated to St. Patricks Hall to contribute to its maintenance and upkeep.

Tickets are available from Main Street Music, Pembroke. Tel. 01646 621530 to buy or reserve a ticket.
