Narberth Swimming Pool will close on August 1... unless the Friends of Narberth Pool have sufficient funds to purchase the biomass boiler by the end of July. This was the message from the meeting with Pembrokeshire County Council last week. So far, pledges, sponsorship and donations of almost £20,000 have been received out of the £200,000 needed. The next meeting with the county council is on Friday, July 18. So what can you do to help? • Donate, sponsor or pledge to buy shares. • Persuade others to donate, sponsor or pledge to buy shares. "Now is your chance to do your bit and save the pool," said Mayor, Clr. Sue Rees, chair of the the Friends of Narberth Pool Action Group. "People have been asking if there is anything they can do to help. We promised to let you know when you could do something. Well now is your chance. We need people to go knocking on every door in their area and ask people to donate, or sign up for shares to save our pool. "Time is fast running out, so please get your packs and storm your area, to get as many pledges and donations as you can... we need every drop!" Among dates to note, meanwhile, are: Monday, July 21 - Inflatable and BBQ - Get Civic Week off to a swimmingly successful start from 3.30 - 5.30 pm in the pool. BBQ in the marquee from 5-7 pm. Tickets available soon. Saturday, July 26 - Narberth Carnival - Street Swimming Spectacular. Thursday, July 31 - Deadline for receipt of stakeholder pledges.
