Trustees and staff from the Harriet Davis Trust welcomed representatives from many organisations and businesses to Harriet’s House on Tenby Harbour last week to celebrate the upgrading of the property in response to their fund-raising appeal.

Elizabeth Sleight, the charity’s development manager, said: “We wanted to raise £21,000 to improve Harriet’s House as 2015 was the 21st anniversary of its opening to disabled children and their families. We have had the most amazing support from local groups and businesses, - we simply could not have achieved this without them and we are really grateful to everyone who has helped us.”

Andrew Muskett, chairman of the trustees, said: “With all the money raised we have been able to replace the oriel windows, upgrade the kitchen, improve equipment in the special bathroom and bedroom, insulate, decorate and re-carpet the property. The local response to our appeal has been truly overwhelming.”

Attending the event last Friday were representatives from Tenby Soroptimists International, Rotary Club, Male Choir, Soupermen, Sailing Club, St. Mary’s Church, Tenby Lions, Ladies Circle, Round Table, 4th Tenby Guides, Inner Wheel, Trefoil Guild and Tenby Playgroup.

Other support for the project included Sainsbury’s, Art Matters Gallery, Howdens Joinery, the Port of Milford Haven, the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust, the Amroth Arms, Cycle Fit, the White Horse Inn, Kilgetty and the Cross Inn, Penally.
