A mum from Milford Haven has been fined in court after admitting cannabis possession.
Thirty-three-year-old Julieanne Underwood, of Haven Drive, Hakin, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing 0.1 grams of cannabis when she appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that police officers executed a search warrant at the defendant’s address on October 13, and she handed them a tin which contained the small amount of cannabis.
“She told officers that she had bought the cannabis for £10, but we can only assume that she’d smoked most of it as there was only a small amount left.
“Ms Underwood was in court earlier this year for cannabis possession and is currently serving a community order for more serious offences,” explained Mr. Pritchard Jones.
Defence solicitor Katy Hanson told the court that Ms Underwood lived on her own and was a mother to two children.
“She suffers with Crohn’s Disease which has significant side effects and she finds that cannabis helps with a lot of the symptoms,” she said.
Probation officer Julie Norman told magistrates that, despite her health issues, Ms Underwood had completed all hours of her unpaid work requirements under her community order and attended all appointments.
“There is a support available to her if she wants to stop using cannabis, as if she appears before the court again charged with possession, the next time the court may not be so lenient,” said Ms Norman.
Magistrates fined the defendant £100 for the offence and ordered her to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
