Tenby’s lifeboat stations and rescue vessels undertook a deep clean this month after one of the RNLI volunteers tested positive for Covid-19.

All-weather lifeboat the Haydn Miller and inshore craft Georgina Taylor were temporarily out out of action for around 12 hours last week following news of the positive test late on October 2.

Following a deep-clean of both lifeboats, crew kit and both stations took place, the boats back were back in service the next morning, with ‘a very small minority’ of crew members who had contact with the volunteer, subsequently asked to self-isolate, explained Tenby RNLI crew member and press officer Ben James.

“HM Coastguard were aware of the situation. Flank RNLI lifeboat stations were ready to respond to any lifeboat callout covering the Tenby area until the station was back on service,” added Ben.
