A busy week for Tenby RNLI Lifeboats culminated in the station’s 100th shout of the year!

It’s been a busy seven days for the station, with the all-weather lifeboat Haydn Miller returning to Tenby following several months of maintenance at Mainstay Marine.

“We're thrilled to have her back,” said a spokesperson for Tenby RNLI.

Then, to top it all off, Tenby RNLI also had their 100th shout of the year on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 13, when the inshore lifeboat was launched to assist a swimmer that had got into difficulty off Castle Beach.

The volunteer lifeboat crew were quickly on scene and located the casualty sitting on Lion rock, unable to make it back ashore.

After checking her over to make sure she didn’t need medical attention, she was dropped back ashore at Castle Beach, where she was met by a friend who had raised the alarm.

Tenby also gained a new inshore lifeboat helm and a navigator this month in the form of Eddie Waring and Ben Field-Thomas respectively.

A spokesperson for Tenby RNLI shared: “Huge congratulations to Eddie Waring and Ben Field-Thomas!

“After many months of training, hard work and assessment, both have successfully completed their training plans and taken up new roles on the inshore lifeboat.

“Eddie has passed out as our latest Helm, while Ben has passed out as a Navigator.

“A fantastic achievement for both of them, and a testament to the dedication and commitment they’ve shown throughout their training.

“Well done, Eddie and Ben — and congratulations on your new roles!”

Back over the summer, on August 13, Tenby lifeboat station became the UK's busiest with six rescue missions in one day, including saving swimmers and addressing false alarms.

It was also announced that two RNLI stations in Pembrokeshire - Angle and Fishguard will be getting new Coastal Lifeboats.
