Tenby RNLI were called out twice on Saturday to deal with paddleboarders and a kite surfer in difficulty.

The first shout of the day came for all-weather lifeboat the Haydn Miller shortly after 2.30 pm, after a report that three people were in difficulty on paddleboards in choppy seas off Barafundle.

The volunteer crew were quickly on the water and made best speed to the area, quickly finding the casualties. Apart from being cold, they were otherwise unharmed.

They were brought aboard, where they were given blankets to warm them back up. Due to the swell on the beach, they were brought back to Tenby.

The second shout of the day was for the D-class inshore lifeboat at 6.20 pm, after a call to the coastguard reporting a kite surfer possibly in difficulty off Lydstep.

As the lifeboat was making its way, it was confirmed that the kite surfer was now safely ashore and in no difficulty.

The lifeboat returned to station, arriving at 6.30 pm.

Unfortunately, due to ‘unforseen circumstances’ the lifeboat station ‘Open Day’ scheduled for today (July 30) has had to be cancelled.

“We’re really sorry to let you down, but we’re hoping to re-arrange a weekend next month. Thanks for your understanding.” said a spokesperson for Tenby RNLI.
