Both Tenby RNLI lifeboats responded quickly to rescue two individuals stranded by the tide on rocks near Pendine.

Both lifeboats were requested to launch at 6.15pm on Monday, April 27, whilst preparing to launch for their weekly exercise, after a report that two persons were possibly cut off by the tide at Gilman point near Pendine - six miles north-east of Tenby.

With choppy conditions meaning the inshore lifeboat made slower progress, the all-weather lifeboat was first on scene.

As they were arriving, they were alerted to two people on the rocks by members of Tenby Coastguard rescue team, who were on the cliffs above.

The Y-boat was launched to go into the rocks and make contact with the people, who confirmed that they were in difficulty. They were taken aboard the Y-boat and dropped ashore at Pendine, where Coastguards were waiting for them.

They were closely followed by the inshore lifeboat, which had now arrived on scene and collected the bags belonging to the casualties, before dropping them ashore.

With everybody accounted for and nobody else in difficulty, both boats returned to Tenby and began their exercises.
