A warrant has been issued for a Tenby chip shop proprietor who has allegedly committed hygiene offences as well as breaching trading standards.
Sixty-two-year-old, Aristi Efthymiou of Morgan’s Fish Bar at Spinnaker House on Upper Frog Street was due to appear at Havefordwest Magistrates Court on Monday to face prosecutions charges by Pembrokeshire County Council, but failed to show for the hearing.
The defendant is charged with engaging in a commercial practice which was a misleading action, which is in breach of regulation 5(4) of the trading standards regulations from 2008.
The offence is alleged to have taken place on April 15 when the menu at Morgan’s Fish Bar claimed it had a hygiene rating of five when it was actually one.
Mr. Efthymiou is also charged with two counts of failing to display a valid hygiene rating sticker, with these offences alleged to have taken place on April 9 and April 15 of this year.
The offences regarding Mr. Efthymiou’s failure to display a valid hygiene sticker were adjourned until October 21, however, due to the serious nature of the charge relating to the defendant engaging in a commercial practice which was misleading. Magistrates issued a warrant without bail to secure Mr. Efthymiou’s appearance in court.
