A prolific Pembroke Dock shoplifter has been told that she faces further jail time if she does not change her ways.
Forty-five-year-old Celia Parsley, of London Road, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to admit stealing various items to the value of £97.93 from B and M Stores in Pembroke Dock.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that the defendant was captured on the store’s CCTV system on November 5, shortly before 3 pm.
“She had an empty green bag with her and was seen walking around putting various items in it.
“Police were contacted immediately and when they went around to Miss Parsley’s home address they recovered the items in a resalable condition. She had stolen two perfumes, a dog toy and poo-bag holder, a torch, a baby’s toy, one bottle of red wine and a bottle of white wine,” he continued.
The court heard that the defendant had a long history of dishonest offences and was currently subject to a community order handed to her in October for four offences of shoplifting.
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb admitted that his client had an antecedent history, which had also resulted in a term of imprisonment in 2005.
“Since her recent community order, Miss Parsley’s attendance with probation appointments has been very good.
“She is dealing with emotional and mental health matters, along with matters relating to previous substance abuse,” he added.
On sentencing chief magistrate Alex Allison told the defendant that if she appeared before the court again, they may not be so merciful and have no choice but to send her to prison, before electing to revoke Miss Parsley’s current community order, and hand her an 18 month one with the same conditions previously attached.
The defendant was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £90 victim surcharge.
