A Pembroke man caught drink-driving during the early hours has been handed a motoring ban.

Twenty-four-year-old Dylan Honeysett Blunsden of Devon Drive, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to a charge of driving a a Vauxhall Astra, on the A477 Sentry Cross after exceeding the prescribed limit of alcohol.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that police officers stopped the defendant in his vehicle at around 3.20 am on February 6 as part of a routine stop check.

“Officers could smell intoxicants. There was no signs of bad driving,” he said.

The court heard that the defendant gave a roadside sample of 62 and a reading of 50 mircogrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath at the police station after his arrest.

Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that his client who worked as a scaffolder was very remorseful.

“He completely understands the danger he put himself and others in. He lives with his parents so one of them will be able to give him a lift to work,” he remarked.

Magistrates disqualified Mr. Blunsden from driving for 15 months and fined him £166 for the offence.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge.
