Dyfed-Powys Police is carrying out enquiries following the discharge of a firearm by a police officer in Milford Haven on Saturday evening (March 28).

The force received a report of disorder at Bunkers Hill at 5.45pm, where an individual was said to be in possession of a knife. Officers, including a firearms unit were dispatched to the property.

While at the scene, an officer discharged a single shot from a firearm at 6.32pm. The firearm was not directed towards an individual, and no injuries were sustained by anyone present.

The force has voluntarily referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, who will determine if it should be investigated independently or referred back to the force.

A police presence remains at Bunkers Hill today (March 29).

Deputy Chief Constable Gary Phillips said: “We have initiated a prompt investigation into the circumstances that led to the firearms being discharged, and have referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

“We will work with them as we continue to establish the circumstances leading up to the discharge.”
