A Milford man who stole household goods and clothing from a local store has been charged in court.

Thirty-five-year-old Dean Michael Davison, of Birch Mead, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday (March 3), to admit a charge of stealing items to the value of £116 from the Tesco store in Milford Haven.

Prosecutor Dennis Davies told the court that the store manager was reviewing footage from the CCTV system on an unrelated matter in November when he he spotted the defendant putting items in a bag for life, accompanied by a female, before leaving the premises without paying.

The court heard that Mr. Davison was recognisable from a distinctive tattoo on his neck.

“Police were informed and they recognised him immediately from the CCTV stills,” said Mr. Davies.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that a ‘lack of money’ caused Mr. Davison to steal the items. “Temptation got the better of him. He apologies to the court,” he said.

Magistrates fined the defendant £80 for the offence, and ordered him to pay compensation of £116 to the store.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge.
