The Police Federation of England and Wales has today launched a new independent Integrity Line, giving members and employees a confidential way to report concerns about integrity, behaviour or misconduct involving the Federation.

The service is operated independently by Safecall and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Individuals can choose to report concerns anonymously or provide their identity if they wish.

The Integrity Line covers concerns relating to elected Federation officials, representatives, employees, contractors and Federation branches. It does not replace existing police misconduct reporting arrangements and should only be used for concerns relating to the Federation itself.

Reports received through Safecall are independently assessed before being referred through the Federation's Ethics and Standards process where appropriate.

National Chair Tiff Lynch said: "It’s a core principle for the Federation that we hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity and accountability that our members expect. Most people will never need to use this service, but everyone should know it is there.

"By introducing an independent reporting route, we are making it easier for anyone with genuine concerns to speak up safely and confidently.

"Whether someone chooses to identify themselves or remain anonymous, they can be reassured that their concerns will be handled independently, professionally and confidentially.

"This is an important step in strengthening trust, transparency and confidence in the Federation."

The Integrity Line is available online and by telephone, 24 hours a day throughout the year.

More information, including frequently asked questions, is available on the Federation website.
