A 23-year-old man tragically died as a result of a road traffic collision on the A40 on Saturday night.

Dyfed Powys Police Roads Policing Unit is investigating after Daniel James Cobain from the Carmarthen area died in the accident on the westbound dual carriageway near Bancyfelin.

The dark coloured Mini convertible he was driving at the time left the road sometime between 5.30 pm on Saturday and 12.40 am on Sunday and came to rest in a nearby field.

The collision scene was discovered by police whilst on patrol along the dual carriageway.

Said a police spokesperson: “We are appealing to motorists who were travelling in both directions on the A40 during this time to contact police if they have any knowledge of this collision by calling 101.”
