A Templeton pensioner, with a history of making nuisance phone calls to the emergency services whilst drunk, has returned to prison just days after being released.

Seventy-two-year-old Ann Gateley, of Chapel Hill Lane, Cold Blow, appeared from custody at Haverfordwest Magistrates court on Monday, after being charged with persistently using the 999 system to cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, told the court that Mrs. Gateley had called the 999 line nine times and 101 once over three days from March 21 to 23, sounding drunk.

Mr Pritchard-Jones explained that the defendant had been doing this for some years and that the police know all about her background, and that she was warned again on this occasion about abusing the emergency services system.

Magistrates heard how Mrs. Gateley had only been released from prison on March 15, after being sentenced before Christmas for similar matters.

She was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison and ordered to pay a total of £200 in court costs.
