A Pembrokeshire pub has thanked the ‘power of social media’ for assisting with tracking down a culprit responsible for an alleged assault on a member of staff on Saturday night.
The alleged assault occurred at around 7.25 pm at the Wiseman’s Bridge Inn, when a well known local and member of staff (who was off duty at the time) was randomly attacked at the bar by a customer who aimed a head-butt at the victim, causing severe injuries.
The pub was full at the time on a Saturday evening, with the incident occurring during a busy period and when children were still present at the premises.
Wiseman’s Bridge Inn posted on its Facebook page, appealing to members of the public to come forward to identify the person responsible: “This individual was previously seen being aggressive and demanding to other bar staff.
“This disgusting behaviour will not be tolerated ever,” they continued, stating that CCTV had captured the person’s face on camera,
“If any of our neighbours, pubs, fellow caravan and camping parks, shops or anyone has any information, please contact us immediately.
“We as a pub are in absolute disbelief!”
The following day they stated: “Thanks to everyone for their comments, shares and messages regarding our incident last night. We believe the individual (wearing a baseball cap) is a holiday maker and is staying very locally.
“Please get in touch if you recognise him or the group he is with, but please be very cautious,” they added.
Following the incident, a spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police told the Observer: “We are currently investigating an assault at the Wiseman’s Bridge Inn on Saturday, April 15, following a third party report on Monday morning after they had seen footage of the incident on social media. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Wiseman’s Bridge Inn went onto say: “We would like to thank every single one of you who has taken time to share, comment and message us.
“We are relieved to say that the individual has now been identified by a number of reliable sources. The matter has been handed over to the police and further action will be taken. The power of social media!” they added.
