Police in Pembroke Dock are reminding motorists not to leave any valuables on display in their vehicles and to ensure that vehicles are locked when unattended.

Criminals have been targeting vehicles which have been left unlocked and the area has seen a number of such crimes in the last two months.

In the Pembroke Dock area, seven vehicles were targeted in January and 12 in February.

“Unfortunately, despite warnings, there are a core of motorists that still don’t realise the dangers of leaving their valuables on show in their car. And some still forget to lock their car,” said Inspector Shaun Bowen.

“There are people out there who will not hesitate to smash a window in order to steal something valuable left on the car seat, whether it’s a bag, a phone, a coat, anything.

“So our message is clear. If anything of value has to be left with the vehicle, it should be locked away in the boot and kept out of sight. Please, be sensible and keep your valuables out-of-sight in your cars and ensure your vehicles are locked when unattended.”
