A Pembroke Dock man charged with aggravated vehicle taking, and dangerous driving, has been remanded in custody following an incident that occurred at Withybush Retail Park on Saturday afternoon.
Twenty-eight-year-old Rhys Blow, of London Road, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to face charges of criminal damage, theft, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and driving while disqualified.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that the incident took place on Saturday shortly after 5 pm.
The court heard that the defendant had been given a custodial sentence by the Vale of Glamorgan Magistrates’ Court in December, of 2015, for failing to provide a specimen, and was currently serving a five-year driving ban which runs until December, 2020.
Mr. Blow is accused of causing criminal damage to Withybush Hospital’s main entrance glass doors, before stealing two bottles of wine from the Texaco filling station nearby, where he is then alleged to have taken a Honda Civic car without the owner’s consent.
A six-year-old girl is believed to have been in the back of the car whilst the vehicle’s owner was also said to have been dragged along for 30 yards, before it crashed into a bollard in front of the entrance to the Boots store.
Mr. Blow entered no pleas to any of the offences, and he was told by magistrates that he would be remanded in custody until a further hearing next month at Swansea crown court, scheduled for July 14.
Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, with officers particularly interested in speaking to a taxi driver who assisted police by blocking the car’s exit.
Anyone with information that could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to Haverfordwest Police by calling 101.
